William and Rebecca Monk of Woking and Send
William Monk was probably born around 1760 but there are too many baptised in the area at about that time to identify his parents.
Becky Withall, a daughter of William and Elizabeth was born on 17th September 1764 and baptised in Woking on 23rd September 1764

By 1841 the family, except for their eldes two children, was living in West Church Street, West Clandon and the sons, apart from David, were all farm workers. In 1851 they were living at Oak Ryde, Ripley and had just David and Jane living at home. By 1861 Rebecca was widowed and living with just her daughter, Jane, in Ripley, just 3 doors along from the Ship Inn, which is still there. In 1871 Rebecca was staying with her married son Jesse and his family in Ripley and she died aged 81 and was buried in Ripley on 19th October 1877.

Martha married James Woodman, a farm worker, in West Clandon on 29th April 1828. They lived in East Clandon but had no children. In 1841 and 1851 they had a niece, Elizabeth Dyer, living with them. Martha died, aged 67, and was buried in East Clandon on 17th July 1867.
