Samuel Denyer, son of Frank and Mary, was baptised in Godalming on 11th August 1771.

Mary Cover, daughter of Robert, was baptised in Thursley on 18th April 1763.

Samuel Denyer and Mary Cover were married in Thursley on 18th October 1789 and had the following children baptised:

Samuel died and was buried in Thursley on 31st December 1841, aged 71. The register notes that he had been clerk of the parish for about 40 years.

Mary was buried in Thursley on 20th January 1849, aged 83.

    William, an agricultural labourer, and Margaret were living in Mead Road, Farncombe, near Godalming in 1841 with their children George, Thomas and Charles. In 1851 William was working in the stone quarry and Charles was still with them in Godalming. William died before the 1861 census.

    In 1841 Jemima was at Oxford Road, Godalming, with Joseph, who was a groom, and their youngest three children. In 1851 Joseph, an ostler, and Jemima were at Barrack Field, Guildford. By 1861 they had moved to Prospect Place, Swindon, Wiltshire, where Joseph was working as a smith’s labourer. They were still there in 1871 and Jemima died in 1874, age 84.

    Daniel was buried in Thursley on 15th June 1829, aged 36. In 1841 Sarah, a schoolmistress, was living at Hedge in Thursley with Mary. Mary married Martin Tidy, a master tanner, and Sarah was staying with them in Thursley in 1851. In 1861 she was still in Thursley, although retired from teaching, and lodging with her was Thomas Milton, widower of Sarah’s sister Bethia. Sarah was buried in Thursley on 15th June 1864, aged 63.

    In 1851 Samuel was an eating house keeper living at 143 Bethnal Green with his family, but their daughter, Caroline, was staying with her aunt Elizabeth and William Ayling in Fareham, who had no children of their own. She had been baptised there in 1850. In 1861 Samuel was staying at Hill House in Thursley with Caroline. Samuel was buried in Thursley on 20th July 1865, aged 63.

  • Elizabeth married William Ayling in Thursley on 28th October 1828, but they had no children of their own. In 1841 she was staying in Thursley with her married sister Hannah. In 1851 she was in Fareham, Hampshire with her husband who was a beer house keeper there and staying with them was her niece Caroline, Samuel’s youngest daughter. Elizabeth was buried in Portsea on 12th December 1858.

    Edward was a grocer in Thursley but by 1861 he had died and Hannah was recorded as Grocer and Postmistress as she was in 1871. By 1881 she lodging in Edmonton next door to her son John, who by then was married and working as a master coach-builder. Her death was registered in Edmonton in Q1 1885 aged 85.
