Will of John Funnell - 1880
Farm Bailiff of Ringmer
This is the last Will and Testament of me John Funnell of Ringmer in the County of Sussex Farm Bailiff First I order and direct that all my just debts and funeral and testamentary expenses shall be paid by my Executors hereinafter named as soon as conveniently may be after my decease I give and bequeath all my household goods Furniture Monies Securities for Money and personal Estate of every sort and kind of or to which I may be possessed or entitled at the time of my decease unto my dear Wife Sarah Funnell to and for her own absolute use and benefit and in case my said Wife Sarah Funnell shall happen to die in my lifetime I give and bequeath my said household goods Furniture Monies Securities for Money and personal Estate in manner following that is to say Three equal fifth parts thereof unto and equally between my three Sons Thomas Funnell George Funnell and William Funnell one other equal fifth part thereof unto and equally between and amongst all and every the child and children of my late Daughter Mary the Wife of Thomas Honeysett and the remaining equal fifth part thereof unto and equally between and amongst all and every the child and children of my late Daughter Ann the Wife of William Sands And I appoint my said two sons George Funnell and William Funnell Executors of this my Will Hereby revoking all Wills by me heretofore made In testimony whereof I the said John Funnell the Testator have to this my last Will and Testament set my hand and seal this Twenty eighth day of February in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and eighty

Signed sealed published and declared by the above named John Funnell the Testator by making his mark and affirming his seal he being unable to sign his name as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us present at the same time who in his presence at his request and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as Witnesses the said will having been previously read over and explained to the said John Funnell by Edward Bailey one of such Witnesses and he appeared perfectly to understand the same.

Proved at Lewes the 7th day of May 1881 by the oaths of George Funnell and William Funnell the sons the executors to whom administration was granted
The Testator John Funnell was late of Ringmer in the County of Sussex Farm Bailiff and died on the fifteenth day of April 1881 at Ringmer aforesaid
